Episode 13 of 9-1-1 season 4 left the fate of Ryan Guzman’s character well and truly up in the air but does Eddie die in 9-1-1?

Characters come and go from TV shows all the time and it’s always a huge talking point when a potential departure is on the horizon.
That’s certainly the case for 9-1-1 fans after episode 13 of season 4 left the fate of Ryan Guzman’s Eddie up in the air.
But just what happened in the episode and does Eddie die?
Episode 13 recap
Episode 13 of season 4 saw the 9-1-1 team respond to a call from a boy named Charlie whose mother, Sheila, had half-fallen through the balcony of their apartment.
However, upon arrival at the apartment, Eddie Diaz and the team quickly realized that it wasn’t just Sheila who was in danger.
She claimed that Charlie had an autoimmune disease and must be kept indoors in order to stop him from getting sick.
In reality, she had been drugging her own son to make him ill in order to make use of the GoFundMe donations they had received.
Upon learning this, Charlie dosed his mother with the medication that made him ill.
Luckily, Eddie and Buck managed to arrive on the scene just in time to save them both.
However, the biggest twist in episode 13 came in the final few seconds.
Does Eddie die?
- Eddie’s fate in 9-1-1 is unknown.
As the team of firefighters are preparing to leave the apartment, Eddie is shot by an unidentified sniper and is left bleeding out on the floor as the episode ends.
The sniper also attempted to shoot Buck but Captain Mehta managed to push him to the floor and save him.
Episode 13 ended with Buck, covered in blood, staring at Eddie who looked back as his eyes closed and the credits rolled.
It’s unclear if Eddie passed out due to blood loss at that moment or if he really did succumb to his injuries.
According to IMDb, Ryan Guzman is credited to appear as Eddie in episode 14, but whether that’ll be as a corpse or alive in a hospital bed remains to be seen.
Fans react to that final scene
It’s safe to say that 9-1-1 fans have been left with the jaws firmly on the floor after the events of episode 13 with many taking to social media to offer up their thoughts.
One fan on Twitter wrote in all caps: “BUCK STOOD THERE FOR SO LONG AFTER EDDIE GOT HIT HE WAS SO IN SHOCK AND THE WAY HE WAS LOOKING AT HIM WHEN HE WAS TACKLED I CANT DO THIS I WILL NEVWR RECOVER”
While another added: “how am i supposed to sleep knowing the writers had carla tell eddie to follow his heart and then made him get shot right in front of buck specifically and then they proceed to emphasize the fact that not once do they ever take their eyes off each other… there’s something there”
And finally, this fan referenced 9-1-1’s recent renewal in their comment: “i take it back i am no longer happy that 911 is renewed after what they did to eddie the hell was that”
9-1-1 season 3 concludes on Fox with episode 14 on May 24th at 8/7c.
