Linda,
No, my wife was not on any medication for Alzheimer's, ie Aricept or equivalent. I never did discover, nor wish to know why she was being given so much medicine.
We all like to believe that there's some magic pill or potion that will cure illnesses. Everything in life has a price: happiness/sadness, hot/cold, love/hate etc. Who would say there is no downside to any medication? Sometimes the answer is in food.
God knows I'm learning that for myself right now. After my early morn run 04.00hrs I felt good, then after breakfast I had an attack of burning. It was so bad that I took some medication that I've stopped taking. I'm meant to take about six tablets a day. I've been taking on average, one a week when I'm desperate with pain. I felt far worse for taking the pill. A cup of coffee and the pain is gone!
The mind is a wonderful machine with sights, sounds, smell, taste and touch can have a profound affect on the mind, which in turn, can help heal or damage ones health. Sorry for such a long winded post, I should stick to writing my book. Here are two photos that tell some thing of our story.
One with a great grand daughter placed in my wife's arms at the NH. The other; years later, same child and my wife.
