Ginny And Georgia has finally returned and some imperative questions have accompanied the series back onto Netflix. The streamer has truly kicked off 2023 in spectacular fashion, unveiling new shows like Kaleidoscope and Copenhagen Cowboy, while also rolling out new films like The Pale Blue Eye. However, it’s season 2 of Ginny And Georgia that has already stolen January.

Created by Sarah Lampert, the darkly comic drama first hit streaming back in February 2021 and introduced us to 15-year-old Ginny and her mother Georgia.

It was renewed and season 2 landed on Thursday, January 5th 2023.

Diving in, we have a question to address. What happened to Tom on Ginny And Georgia, exactly?

What happened to Tom on Ginny And Georgia?

Tom is in a coma as a result of an illness that we learn he isn’t going to recover from, which is deeply affecting his wife, Cynthia Fuller. Georgia ultimately decides to smother Tom to death with a pillow without Cynthia’s knowledge.

Let’s rewind. We discovered the situation with Cynthia and Tom towards the end of season 1. Cynthia is exhausted after attempting to juggle work and her difficult home life, as her son Zach is also struggling with the absence of his father.

In season 2, the pressure on Cynthia continues to mount and, despite her feud with Georgia being sustained, it reaches a pivotal point when Cynthia opens up to her after stepping in when she sees Georgia having a confrontation with Gil, her ex.

As the drinks flow, Cynthia confides in Georgia and explains that watching her husband slowly pass away is an agonizing pain that she can hardly take. They talk it out and Cynthia announces that she’s going to wrap the day up.

She goes upstairs to get Austin and Georgia takes the opportunity to sneak into Tom’s room and end his life with a strategically placed pillow.

However, there’s a catch… Austin was playing hide and seek with Zach and chose the closet in Tom’s room as a hiding place. He witnesses the murder, which is sure to cause major complications.

‘There are just so many plot twists’

Antonia Gentry (who plays Ginny) and Brianne Howey (Georgia) were recently interviewed by ScreenRant and asked what they’re most excited about for season 2.

“So many things,” Antonia said. “There are just so many plot twists, so many surprises, and so many heart-wrenching moments, and I’m just really excited to see everyone’s reactions to it.”

Similarly, Brianne added: “I am so excited for all of the reactions because our reactions alone when we were just reading the scripts were shocking, so I can’t wait to see everybody else’s. Every episode ends on an amazing little cliffhanger.”

Ginny And Georgia is streaming exclusively on Netflix.
